Somerset Sabres
Captained by Justin Langer, the Somerset Sabres are a reasonably strong Twenty20 cricket side on paper, with several former international players in their ranks. They have been playing in the Midlands group for their round robin Twenty20 Cup matches but from the 2010 season they will play in the newly formed, Southern Division. They are currently ranked at number 5 in the The Twenty20 Cup Rankings
Twenty20 Cup Performances
The Sabres were runners up in the 2009 Twenty20 Cup, losing somewhat tamely in the final to a highly charged up Sussex team. They had won their semi final in great style with a superb contribution from former England man, Marcus Trescothick against Kent Spitfires.
Somerset did win the Twenty20 Cup back in 2005 where they beat Lancashire Lightning in the final, but apart from those two appearances they have failed to qualify from the Group Stages.
