Rajasthan Royals
Owned by the Emerging Media Group, the Rajasthan Royals are captained by the lengendary Aussie leg spinner Shane Warne. The Royals won the IPL in the tournaments first season but they realistically not expected to challenge for the title this year, but still on their day they can be a match for any team in the IPL.
Performances
They were fully deserving winners of the 2008 IPL, after first of all winning the League with eleven wins from fourteen matches played. They then won the knockout tournament, defeating the 'Daredevils in the semi-final and Chennai Super Kings in the final
The 2009 IPL was as bad as the 2008 IPL was good for the Royals. They could only manage sixth place and thus failed to qualify for the knockout stages. The Royals had a fairly average 2010 and will be hoping to bounce back this year.
Squad
The Royals managed to retain Shane Warne in the IPL Player Auction but it came at a high price, $1.8m to be exact, which is a lot for a player whose best days are behind him. They signed the fastest bowler in the world in Shaun Tait and also Shane Watson, who was one of Australia's better performers in the recent Ashes and World Cup.
