Kings Xl Punjab
The Kings is owned by Preity Zinta, Karen Paul and Mohit Burman who brought the franchise for $76million. For the 2011 they will be coached by Michael Bevan and captained by Adam Gilchrist.
Performances
In their first season the Kings came second in the League, winning ten of their 14 matches, only to be knocked out in the semi-finals by the Chennai Super Kings. In 2009 they could only manage fifth place and thus failed to qualify and in 2010 they were the wooden-spooners finishing rock-bottom.
Squad
The Kings have released batsmans Yuvraj Singh and the Sri Lankan wicket keeper Kumar Sangakkara after their disappointing performances last year. They have secured the services of Australia's Adam Gilchrist who comes in as captain following his move from the Deccan Chargers. They also spent $1.4m on David Hussey, which made him the second most expensive foreign player. The Kings will have to do without Stuart Broad and Dimitri Mascarenhas due to injuries.
