Chennai Super Kings
The Chennai Super Kings are owned by the India Cement Company and have proved to be one of the most successful franchises in the IPL. They originally cost $91m and are currently the top ranked team in the IPL. The Super Kings Head Coach is the former South African batsman Kepler Wessels and they are captained by the Indian skipper MS Dhoni.
They were crowned winners in 2010 and have an impressive record of reaching at least the semi-final stage of every IPL tournament.
Performances
The Chennai Super Kings are arguably the most successful team in the short history of the IPL. In 2008 they agonisingly finished as runners-up after their final with the Rajasthan Royals went down to the final ball. In 2009 they were haulted at the semi-final stage by the Royal Challengers but last season they were crowned IPL Champions when they beat the Mumbain Indians in the final.
Squad
In the IPL Player Auction 2011, the Super Kings were able to hold onto their captain MS Dhoni, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina and Albie Morkel. They signed back previous players such as Subramaniam Badrinath, Ravichandran Ashwin and the Australian duo Doug Bollinger and Michael Hussey. In addition they signed the all rounders Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis. They boasting a fantastic all-round squad and go into the tournament as one of the favourites.
Stan James have priced Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay at 25/1 to finish as the tournament's Top Batsman and Ravichandran Ashwin at 25/1 to finish as the leading wicket taker.
